Consider

Consider a world much like ours with failure, famine and fear,

A world with death in every breath where everything seems unclear.

Where victims suffer in silence, and onlookers crouch and pray

In hope for those they used to know because it hurts to turn away.

Yet despite what appears familiar, our lives run on opposite tracks,

In this other place we see them embrace, working to heal the cracks.

Perhaps conflict was a necessary evil in God's grand game of luck,

But now they're united, candles lighted in a balance that's being struck.

Everyone stands together, every human working as one,

Acknowledging the distance that makes no difference, what's in the past is gone.

We possess a shared responsibility to care for strangers and friends,

Surrender our guns, accept what comes, and try to make amends.

Out in the summer meadows and out in the winter haze,

Poppies spring up beside buttercups, a reminder of wartime days.

Their pain has stained the battlefield, their sacrifice lingering still,

Living a life allowed to make them proud but knowing we never will.

So I guess we're all just dreamers, imagining these better times,

Where we problem-solve and together evolve against the modern crimes.

Peace is not an angel's virtue or an evasive fantasy,

It's something to remember every November that can be achieved by you and me.
